Immediate need: one (1) temporary full-time position in Lacombe (Alberta) from May 2024 to November 2026.
A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a biological science.
*Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Experience in planning, executing and managing research activities related to food microbiology.
Experience in enumeration of bacteria using conventional and molecular techniques.
Experience creating draft reports and contributing to the preparation of research reports or posters.
Experience with bioinformatic analysis of 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, whole genome sequencing or metagenomics sequencing data.
Experience with R statistical software.

Knowledge of conventional and molecular microbiological laboratory methods for the detection, enumeration and identification of bacteria in or from foods.
Knowledge of meat packing plant practices in Canada.
