The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) hires skilled nurses from all backgrounds and areas of expertise.
As a Nurse within our agency, you will work as an autonomous health provider in a dynamic, evidence-based multidisciplinary practice offering essential health services (assessment, intervention, and treatment) to a diverse patient profile.
Health Services vision is to provide professional, clinically independent, culturally safe and responsive, trauma informed, integrated, and coordinated person-centred care. In collaboration with our partners, CSC Health Services provides a broad range of informed health services that are responsive to the diverse needs of our population through promoting family and community supports, patient advocacy, respecting patient and provider rights and responsibilities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement. You will be called on to provide quality health services to promote patient safety, stabilization, recovery and successful reintegration into our society. Nurses in CSC work in accredited mental health facilities, as well as in Health Services Centres which provide care to Acute, High Intensity, Moderate Intensity and Primary Care Patients. Services can include infectious disease prevention and control, opiate substitution therapy programs, suicide prevention, enhanced discharge planning, and mental health interventions to support offenders with mental health disorders.

Immediate needs are to staff positions in the Bath Institution (Bath, ON) and the Regional Treatment Centre (Bath, ON). The candidate qualified pool resulting from this selection process may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate (anticipatory), term, or casual basis.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Registration as a Registered Nurse OR a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in a province or territory of Canada.*
* In order to receive an employment offer, you must be registered in the province or territory where the position is located.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a health care environment, including Clinical fieldwork placements**, such as a medical, surgical, emergency or a psychiatric setting.
** Clinical fieldwork placement is defined as a guided clinical practice in selected nursing settings to facilitate the application of theoretical concepts and skill development.

EDUCATION
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor's or master's degree with acceptable specialization in nursing or in another specialty relevant to the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Relevant Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification(s) in nursing (e.g. Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, Community Health, Critical Care, Medical-Surgical Health, etc.).
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control accredited by the Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in nursing in one or more of the following areas:
-Immunizations;
-Infectious diseases screening;
-Health promotion programs;
-In a rural or remote area;
-In a correctional setting or forensic setting.
Experience providing nursing intervention or therapeutic intervention to patients suffering from a variety of mental illnesses or psycho-social difficulties.
Experience in Community Health Nursing, Public Health Nursing or Occupational Health.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to work shift work, overtime and variable hours.
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
Reliability Status security clearance - Possess a Registered Nurse license or Registered Psychiatric Nurse license in good standing from the provincial regulatory body in the province or territory of practice.
Valid CPR/AED level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Valid CPR/AED for Health Care Providers (HCP) is also acceptable. Certification must be obtained in person.
Valid Medical Clearance through Health Canada.
