Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) hires skilled nurses from all backgrounds and areas of expertise.

As a Nurse within our agency, you will work as an autonomous health provider in a dynamic, evidence-based multidisciplinary practice offering essential health services (assessment, intervention, and treatment) to a diverse patient profile.

Health Services vision is to provide professional, clinically independent, culturally safe and responsive, trauma informed, integrated, and coordinated person-centred care. In collaboration with our partners, CSC Health Services provides a broad range of informed health services that are responsive to the diverse needs of our population through promoting family and community supports, patient advocacy, respecting patient and provider rights and responsibilities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement. You will be called on to provide quality health services to promote patient safety, stabilization, recovery and successful reintegration into our society. Nurses in CSC work in accredited mental health facilities, as well as in Health Services Centres which provide care to Acute, High Intensity, Moderate Intensity and Primary Care Patients. Services can include infectious disease prevention and control, opiate substitution therapy programs, suicide prevention, enhanced discharge planning, and mental health interventions to support offenders with mental health disorders.

In addition to the exciting work available, we offer an excellent benefit package, promote a healthy workforce with continuous wellness initiatives, and encourage ongoing professional development aligned with priority initiatives. Furthermore, the structure of the organization supports a culture of career advancement and mobility opportunities.

We encourage diversity and we welcome you to apply.
