Who are we and what do we do?
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Protective Technical Services Branch (PTSB) program exists to support various physical security mandates and operations. Our team delivers effective physical security services with state-of-the-art technologies to protect RCMP facilities, and the assets and people within them. Our team also protect Canada’s VIPs and Internationally Protected Persons (IPP), and is called upon to help protect dignitaries during special events. There are various positions to be filled in 3 sections of PTSB, namely, the Rapid Deployment team, Physical Security Technology installation team and the Physical Security Engineering and infrastructure support team.
What will your role be?
Depending on where your skills best fit, you may join the Rapid Deployment team where your job will involve keeping physical security Rapid Deployment technology maintained and up-to-date and being deployed, sometimes in short notice, to special events involving Canada’s VIPs and IPPs. If you join the Physical Security Technology installation team, your job will be to design, install and commission access control and intrusion detection systems at RCMP corporate and VIP sites. If you were to join the Physical Security Engineering and infrastructure support team, your job will involve engineering solutions for access control and intrusion detection systems, supporting and maintaining the Intrusion detection, access control and CCVE network and infrastructure.

Our team is located at 1426 St. Joseph Boulevard, Orleans, Ontario.
The immediate need is to staff four positions on an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles and a Top Secret security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Your résumé.
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
*Significant experience in the electronics technology field.
*Significant experience in the installation, programming and maintenance of technical equipment associated to security systems (e.g. electronic access control, intrusion detection or closed-circuit video).
**Recent experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment, with emphasis on security systems (e.g. intrusion detection, video, or physical access).
**Recent experience in electronic security such as software applications, networks and interface hardware.
** Recent experience in electronic system performance analysis, problem analysis and documentation.
*“Significant” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of approximately 2 years.
**“Recent” is defined as experience acquired within approximately the past 5 years.
Certification in either alarm or Voice/data/video disciplines.
Experience using enterprise applications to host access control systems, intrusion detection systems and/or closed-circuit video systems.
Experience administering and querying SQL databases.
Experience in programming or using a software development kit (SDK) to interface between applications.
