Delivery of information services to federally registered victims of crime according to legislated mandate of the CCRA; assesses the eligibility of victims to receive information, interprets legislation pertaining to victims, provides information to members of the public regarding corrections and conditional release; and is a resource to CSC staff, victim service agencies and other members of the criminal justice system.
About Us
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
Our Mission
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree or applied degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to human behaviour such as the social sciences, psychology or criminology, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Experience providing needs focused client services and information or working in one or more of the following fields:
• Victim Services.
• Crisis Intervention.
• Emotional Support.
• Needs Assessment.
• Social Care Setting.
• Community Work.
• Counselling.
• Court Preparation.
Experience analyzing information, situations, and issues and finding solutions.
Experience in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
English essential

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the mission, priorities, mandate, and the role of the Correctional Service of Canada as it relates to public safety.
Knowledge of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act, the Canadian Victim Bill of Rights, and Commissioner Directives (CD) 784, 785, and 786.
Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of government and external organizations involved in assisting victims of crime.

ABILITIES
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations.

An assignment, secondment, or acting appointment requires approval of your supervisor.
You must provide proof of your education credentials. Foreign educational credentials must be assessed by a recognized credential assessment service. If you have been educated outside of Canada, it is your responsibility to have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian educational standards.
