The unit is based in Edmonton’s downtown core, with a team of insurance, legal and risk management professionals that work on interesting policing cases originating from across the Prairie Provinces and Northern Territories. The claims and the litigation managed includes those matters arising from: 1) Property Damage (police motor vehicle collisions, buildings); 2) Bodily Injury (police service dog encounters, motor vehicle collisions); and 3) Policing Torts (negligence, Charter breaches, wrongful arrest, malicious prosecution).
In a collaborative and proactive manner, the team’s primary function is to facilitate the resolution of financial claims by and against the RCMP and to navigate complex court disclosure matters involving operational policing files.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Edmonton, AB.
A qualified pool of candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. permanent or temporary) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The pool could be used to offer acting appointments, assignments, secondments or deployments.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.
