The Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch (SPIB) is responsible for leading the integrated effort to deliver Laboratories Canada Strategy, an ambitious 25-year whole-of-government Strategy to build a stronger, more collaborative federal and technology ecosystem across Canada. Laboratories Canada will meet the changing needs of scientific research.

The Phase 1 of Laboratories Canada focuses on 5 priority areas: (1) security and regulation, (2) health and safety, (3) resource management and low carbon economy, (4) transportation safety, (5) cultural heritage and preservation. World-class, collaborative, accessible and environmentally sustainable, Laboratories Canada will strengthen science excellence, inspire tomorrow’s discovery, and benefit all Canadians.

SPIB will be leading the implementation of Laboratories Canada and offers a dynamic team, a challenging work portfolio, and opportunities for growth and unique access to scientific research facilities.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada with various tenures, linguistic profiles and/or security requirements.

➥ 𝐄𝐍-𝐄𝐍𝐆-𝟎𝟒 :
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position and eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.

➥ 𝐀𝐑-𝟎𝟓 :
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in architecture and eligibility for certification as a Professional Architect in Canada.
𝗢𝗥
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in landscape architecture or in urban planning, rural planning, community planning or some other specialty relevant to landscape architect and town planner positions and eligibility for certification as a Professional landscape architect or planner in Canada.

❗𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 :
*Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

↪ Extensive* experience in managing complex** Real Property projects related to the design and construction of buildings (construction includes buildings, infrastructure, interior fit up and equipment) or engineering assets.
↪ Extensive* experience in coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
↪ Extensive* experience with real property procurement processes and contract management.
↪ Extensive* experience in managing financial resources.

❗𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 :
*Extensive experience is defined as having at least three (3) years of relevant experience within the last ten (10) years.
**Complex projects must include 𝗔𝗟𝗟 of the following characteristics: at least 3 stakeholder parties requiring specific governance and organized communications, multi-disciplinary project scope in an industrial environment (mechanical, electrical and civil engineering disciplines being predominant), total project value of $10 million or more.
