Duties

The Nurse in Charge supervises and delivers comprehensive community health nursing services. They provide in-depth nursing knowledge, skills, and clinical expertise through consultation, clinical practice, leadership, and facilitate knowledge transfer through health promotion and disease prevention.

As an integral part of the team, you will carry out a full scope of practice and provide a broad range of services in the area of Public Health while building strong working relationships with First Nation communities, partners, and health professionals.

Work environment

The Nurse in Charge will supervise Community Health Nurses working in rural areas of central and southern Saskatchewan. Community Health Nurses work in community health centres or clinics and may also provide services in homes, schools, community buildings and at outdoor events.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff this position on an indeterminate basis based out of Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at this group and level with various tenures and in various locations within Saskatchewan.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree in nursing from a recognized post-secondary institution

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada

EXPERIENCE
-->Significant* experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services in one or more of the following areas:

•Community Health (Public Health or Home and Community Care)
•Primary Care
•Urgent or Emergency Care
•Acute or Intensive Care

*Significant is defined as at least two years’ experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task

-->Experience as program or project leader in the delivery of health services

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
-->Graduation with a Master’s degree in Nursing or a field related to health
-->Significant* experience providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services in one or more of the following areas:
•Chronic Disease Management
•Communicable Disease Management
•Immunizations
•Maternal Child Health or Pre/Post Natal Programming
*Significant is defined as at least two years experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations
-->Experience supervising health professionals
-->Proficiency in speaking a First Nations’ language
-->Experience working with Indigenous people or organizations
-->Experience working in rural, remote or isolated locations
-->Experience in developing policies, procedures or directives

Conditions of employment

•Valid driver's licence or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license
•Current BLS Certification (healthcare provider CPR), renewed annually
•Continuous professional registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
