Assessment accommodation

Duties

• Trains and supervises staff
• Monitors staff performance and productivity

What is a census test?
Between censuses, Statistics Canada takes steps to ensure that each census produces relevant information that Canadians can use to make informed decisions. The 2024 Census Test is conducted to evaluate the census questionnaire (including new and modified content) and collection procedures and tools to prepare for the 2026 Census of Population. To do so, we hire new employees to help assess these new procedures, systems, and tools.

Our ideal candidate is:
• Looking for a short term and exciting opportunity (between 3-4 months)
• New to census and wants to learn about the project
• Looking for meaningful work and an opportunity to have a direct impact on the 2026 Census

What is the work environment?
Staff for this position will be working remotely from home for a majority of the time and will be required to work from a physical office in Ottawa on a rotational basis.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one AS-01 position.

The pool of qualified candidates established from this process may be used to staff similar positions for the 2024 Census Test with various linguistic profiles, tenures and/or security clearances.

Education:

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Essential Experience:

• Experience using spreadsheet software to perform data analysis, reporting and administrative management.
• Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) or similar software.

Competencies:

• Thinking things through
• Working effectively with others
• Showing initiative and being action oriented
• Demonstrating integrity and respect

Ability:

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
