Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various security requirements, conditions of employment as well as various tenures

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

EDUCATION:

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Recent* and significant experience** supporting a Microsoft Windows desktop computer networking environment

Recent* and significant experience** with maintenance, installation and repair of computers and accessories

**”Significant experience” refers to the breadth and depth of experience in the IM/IT field that would normally be acquired over a period of six (6) months or more.

Top Secret security clearance - CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance

Top Secret security clearance - Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visithttp://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/qualifications-and-requirements and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you must not have”, as well as the applicable considerations. The security requirements are the same for all employees of the RCMP.

• Applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret security clearance throughout their employment at the Government of Canada Top Secret security level
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel throughout service area (i.e. Nova Scotia)
• Mobility to the extent of crawling under furniture to set up and assemble computer equipment
• Physical ability for lifting of heavy or awkward items like printers or computers, up to 23kg.
