Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff a full-time indeterminate position.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mining engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience
• Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists and administrative professionals in the delivery of R&D programs related to mineralogy, mineral processing and extractive metallurgy related to critical minerals and other commodities.
• Experience in building partnerships and use of networks from either public or private sectors to deliver on R&D and innovation priorities.
• Experience in setting strategic directions and planning of R&D projects and initiatives to meet expected deliverables and outcomes.
• Experience in working collaboratively with international allied countries to Canada to deliver on projects related to the development and production of critical minerals.
• Experience managing finance and human resources including recruitment, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Experience in leading the development and delivery of collaborative R&D projects.
• Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.

Knowledge
• Knowledge of the Green Mining Innovation program at Natural Resources Canada.
• Knowledge of the R&D priorities of the CanmetMINING branch within Natural Resources Canada.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Critical Mineral Strategy and the Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan.
• Knowledge of the Critical Minerals Research and Development and Demonstration Program at Natural Resources Canada.
• Knowledge of the challenges facing the mining industry to meet it’s emissions targets by 2050.
• Knowledge of emerging technology trends related to mineral Science and processing applicable to the mining industry in Canada.
• Knowledge of policies and regulations related to mineral science and processing for the mining industry in Canada.
