Operate and maintain a water filtration plant; operate and maintain a sewage treatment plant; tests and treats potable water to meet drinking water standards; tests and treats sewage effluent to meet standards; maintains plant logs and documentation; submits orders to the manager for supplies and equipment for the work unit; provides expert advice to staff and management on water quality concerns and on the sewage treatment plant; occasionally provides oversight of inmates to maintain a safe and secure institutional and work environment.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

The intent of this process is to identify qualified candidates for current and anticipatory staffing needs for Wastewater Treatment Operator positions with Correctional Service of Canada, Warkworth Institution (15 mins north of Highway 401 Exit 509 on County Road 30).
Staffing needs include permanent, temporary (term) and casual (maximum 90 working days in a calendar year) employment opportunities.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
• Possession of a valid Wastewater Treatment Operators’ Licence Class II* (or higher) as recognized by the Province of Ontario’s certification authority OR equivalent certification from another province or territory in Canada
*Candidates with a Class I licence are invited to apply, but will not be considered for positions until such time as they obtain a Class II license

◾ ASSET QUALIFICATIONS ◾
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
• Possession of a valid Wastewater Treatment Operators’ Licence Class III (or higher) as recognized by the Province of Ontario’s certification authority OR equivalent certification from another province or territory in Canada
• Possession of a valid Drinking Water Operators’ Licence Class I (or higher) as recognized by the Province of Ontario’s certification authority OR equivalent certification from another province or territory in Canada
• Possession of a valid fall protection certificate
• Possession of a valid confined space certificate
• Possession of a valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) certificate
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in sampling and testing wastewater and/or potable water to meet applicable provincial/territorial and/or federal standards
• Experience in water distribution, including backflow prevention
• Experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant*
*Including municipally, provincially/territorially, federally or privately owned
• Experience with plant control, monitoring and operating the computer automated monitoring equipment, Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA)

• Willingness and ability to work overtime, holidays, shiftwork for a 24/7 institutional establishment
• Willingness and ability to travel to various institutions
• Willingness and ability to work in extreme weather conditions, work in confined spaces, and work at heights including from ladders and scaffolding
• Reliability Status security clearance
• Valid driver’s license
• Candidate must maintain valid occupational certification and training required for the position

SELECTION PROCESS STAGES
This selection process has three stages:
Stage 1 - Screening
The applications will be reviewed (screened), specifically the responses to the questions assessing the essential qualifications, imbedded in this job advertisement. Resumes are considered a secondary source of information during screening.

Stage 2 - Interview
Interviews, may be completed in person or by Microsoft (MS) Teams.

Stage 3 - Reference Checks
Two references will be requested in Stage 2.
For this selection process, it is our intention to communicate with candidates via email for screening and assessment purposes.
