Duties

A highly motivated Team Lead with demonstrated experience in a meat research setting working in progressively more senior laboratory positions is sought to collaboratively plan research with multiple scientists and, through leadership of a technical team, coordinate scientific activities of research projects. Together with scientists within the Meats program, the incumbent will assist in the preparation of drafts, formatting and publication of scientific and technology transfer articles in multiple media formats (peer-reviewed manuscripts, fact sheets, posters, reports, presentations). Additionally, the candidate will coordinate with the lead technicians and unit managers to schedule and track data collection. The incumbent will be adept at managing, mining, and analysing data to ensure valid statistical analysis for multiple projects. Through integration with the scientific teams, the incumbent will provide support to track and streamline equipment procurement, internal and external project reporting, and other scientific deadlines.

Graduation with a B.Sc. in Food Science or related science discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience supervising a research technical team to provide scientific and academic support in the area of meat science.
Experience managing large databases and performing statistical analyses in the area of agricultural research.
Experience managing laboratory SOPs, job safety analyses, and safe work procedures.
