Duties

DNA extraction, Gel electrophoresis, PCR, and general assistance in the lab. Some barn work maybe required, including assistance in collecting samples.

Work environment

Work in laboratories at the Sherbrooke-RDC in Lennoxville, possible work in lab at barn. The student should be comfortable working around animals, and with strong odors.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education*:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Master’s program in a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Animal Nutrition.

Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and the student must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience* with following procedures/instructions within a laboratory setting.
Experience* with feed analysis procedures including dry matter analysis.
Experience* handling livestock animal species.

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of nutritional concepts for dairy including fat and protein feeds and current issues in feeding.

Abilities:
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Ability to report scientific data through rich document.
