The Project Officer reports to the Director General (DG) of the Coastal Region of AAFC’s Science and Technology Branch. The main role of the Project Officer is provide core support on various types of projects to support the DG’s scientific and managerial leadership to the Region’s network of Research and Development Centres and delivery of primary science in a wide variety of disciplines in support of the agriculture and agri-food sector.
Key Activities include:
•Coordinating, developing, and implementing administrative support processes and procedures relevant to projects and initiatives for tracking, time reporting and resource components.
•Assisting with the projection of funding and resource requirements for projects and initiatives.
•Collecting and analyzing project information, and reporting on the status of project activities and initiatives to management.

The intent is to staff 1 full time position on a permanent basis.
A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may also be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment needs.
The preference would be to staff a position in Kentville where the position is currently located. However, circumstances permitting, the hiring manager could consider a candidate who could perform duties from a different location in Canada where AAFC has an office. This position will required onsite presence 40% of the time.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and if there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note below).

EXPERIENCE:
-Experience liaising and coordinating administrative services for management.
-Experience answering general inquiries and information requests from clients.
-Experience participating in project teams or working groups and actively contributing to the processes or products.
-Experience in document and information management, in applications, such as SharePoint.
-Experience handling confidential, protected and sensitive material.
ABILITY:
-Ability to manage and compile multiple sources of information to summarize into tracking documents such as spreadsheets, reports or presentations.
ASSET-EXPERIENCE:
-Experience using a correspondence tracking system, such as TRECS.
