Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Grounds maintenance including mowing , trimming, and care of bedding plants.
2. Clearing snow and shoveling doorways and walkways.
3. Maintaining records of work done.
4. Fleet related duties including scheduling maintenance, scheduling recalls and maintaining fleet records.
5. Assisting other Facilities staff when needed.
6. General maintenance of buildings including but not limited to painting, caulking, and changing light bulbs.
7. Other related duties.
This is an on-site position at the AAFC Research and Development Centre in Beaverlodge, AB. The position requires work to be done both indoors and outdoors at the Centre.
As a member of the facilities staff, you will be working in a variety of buildings and outdoor settings doing a wide range of tasks. As such there is exposure to dirt, fumes, noise, humidity, and hazardous materials. At times you will be expected to spend long hours running machinery.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) GL-MAN-06 position in Beaverlodge, Alberta indeterminately.
A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures as well as various linguistic requirements. Upon request, this pool may also be shared with other federal organizations to staff similar positions in their organization.

EDUCATION
High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE:
Experience planning and organizing landscaping and maintenance projects.
Experience operating a variety of hand and power tools, equipment and machinery utilized in grounds and building maintenance.
Experience performing preventative maintenance and repair activities on a range of mechanical equipment and building systems as needed.
Experience planning and organizing fleet maintenance, fuel use, and maintaining accurate records.
Experience working with computers and computer software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Successful completion of course(s) in Landscaping or Horticulture.
Possession of a valid Class (3) or higher Alberta’s Driver’s License, or other provincial/territorial equivalency.

Knowledge of planting, weeding, mowing lawns, trimming hedges and trees, watering gardens, controlling pests.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to work in a noisy work environment and/or variable weather conditions such as humid, hot, cold, and/or wet conditions.
Ability and willingness to work overtime and be on call outside of core work hours.
