The intent of this selection process is to staff a temporary full-time position.
A partially qualified pool of candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position
EXPERIENCE:
– A minimum of five years of professional experience in electrical engineering, or in the mining industry, either with specialized consulting firms, within research centres or technical universities with a speciality in electrical engineering
– Within the last five years, experience with electric vehicles, including conducting technical surveys in the field, scientific research work and testing in a laboratory, or field instrumentation and monitoring, including electrical measurements;
– Experience in troubleshooting, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing assorted sensors, bench and pilot scale equipment
– Experience in design software (AutoCad, 3-D software, or other equivalent).
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters or Ph.D. degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in engineering or applied science in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
-Experience with mining mobile equipment;
- Experience in BEV design.

Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
- Of electrical engineering principles, testing methods and monitoring techniques used for both field and laboratory work relating to powertrain performance;
- Of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) technology (vehicles and infrastructure) in current use in Canadian mines;
- Of electrical codes and standards and regulations which apply to the Canadian mining industry;
- Of health and safety risks pertaining to BEVs and their mitigation measures.
ABILITIES:
- Communicate effectively in writing;
- Communicate effectively orally;
- Plan, organize, and deliver research studies carried out in the field or the laboratory;
- Work under minimal supervision to meet project objectives;
- Design, control and integrate electrical system components for vehicle powertrain;
- Analyse BEV and charger electrical diagrams.
