Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff an indeterminate full time position

A pool of qualified candidates may be created.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in managing human resources, performance reviews, and staff forecasting.

Experience in managing a budget, forecasting and managing of inventory.

Experience in landscaping and horticultural practices.

Experience with irrigation systems.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of operational equipment required for grounds maintenance and snow removal (including road graders, front end loaders, skid steer, tractor, etc.).

Experience in the purchasing landscaping operations equipment and/or supplies.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in pest management and disease control in a landscaping environment

Willing and able to lift and carry objects (maximum of 25 kilograms/55 pounds).

Willing and able to work in varying weather conditions including; snow, rain, heat and cold.

Willing and able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with safety rules.

Willing and able to be available to be on standby, to work shift work, work overtime on short notice, and work evenings and/or weekends.

Security clearance: Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Enhanced Reliability Status

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s License equivalent to a Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License.

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s License equivalent to a Saskatchewan Class 3 Driver’s License with an “A” Endorsement

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Landscape offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and hold a valid pesticide applicator license issued under the pest Control Products (Sask) Act within two years from date of appointment.

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Greenhouse offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and hold a valid pesticide applicator license issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act within two years from date of appointment.

The successful candidate will be required to provide original documentation of proof of Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident status prior to appointment. The following documents will be accepted as proof: Provincial or territorial birth certificate; Naturalization certificates (issued prior to Jan. 1, 1947); Registration of Birth Abroad certificates (issued between Jan. 1, 1947 and Feb. 14, 1977); Certificates of Retention; Citizenship certificates; Permanent resident card.

Testing/interviews will be conducted at the location of the employer's choice.

The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, on-line activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc.

Successful applicant is required to work in Regina, Saskatchewan. Telework or alternate work locations will not be an option.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
