Duties

The Conservator is responsible for the preservation, conservation, and maintenance of Library and Archives Canada’s documentary heritage collection, for the purposes of preservation, client access, digitization and loans and exhibitions.

Work environment

It is a source of enduring knowledge accessible to all, contributing to the cultural, social and economic advancement of Canada as a free and democratic society. LAC facilitates co-operation among Canadian communities involved in the acquisition, preservation and diffusion of knowledge. It serves as the continuing memory of the Government of Canada and its institutions.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is anticipatory.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to fill identical or similar positions within Library and Archives Canada using various languages requirements and/or various security requirements and/or various tenures (acting, assignement, deployment, secondment, determinate, indeterminate) and/or various location according to the positions being staffed.
