A pool of qualified candidates will be established through this process to fill identical or similar positions within the Canadian Coast Guard Central Region with employment tenures, language requirements, security requirements and work locations that may vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

🎓 EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position.

Degree equivalency

✔ OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATES:
Certificate of Competency 4th Class Engineer, Motor Ship, as issued by Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security (TCMSS)
OR
Valid certificate of Competency as an Electrical Officer as issued by Canadian Coast Guard (CCG)
OR
Transport Canada certification as Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) Engineer Class 1
OR
A post-secondary diploma or higher in Electrical Technology
OR
A post-secondary diploma or higher in Naval Architecture Technology
OR
A post-secondary diploma or higher in Marine Engineering Systems Design Technology

📝EXPERIENCE
Experience working on marine equipment and systems.
Experience in the use of the MS Office Suite of products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

College diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Certification as a Power or Process Plant Operator.

✔ OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATES:
Valid Certificate of Competency 3rd Class Engineer, Motor Ship or higher , as issued by Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security (TCMSS).

📝 EXPERIENCE:
Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing technical problems and recommending solutions.
Experience in the use of computer software for tracking and recording maintenance, work orders, and inventory.
Experience in the purchase of spare parts and services for maintenance related tasks.
Experience in writing technical specifications and documentation.

Reliability Status security clearance

Maintain a valid driver’s license
Maintain a valid Health Canada medical clearance as required by the OHAG;
Wear the necessary personal protective equipment as required by the duties of the position
Travel by vehicle, aircraft or vessels and on short notice
Work overtime as required
Work aboard ships in confined spaces and at heights in extreme weather.
