As part of your duties, you will have to perform maintenance, alteration and repair of steam plant boilers and related equipment, potable water systems, fire protection systems and equipment, emergency power generating systems, refrigeration systems, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, steam distribution systems and hot water distribution systems. You could also be needed to install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and operate high pressure steam boilers and steam distribution and utility distribution equipment in the heating plant.
Operation, maintenance, repair and alterations to high pressure steam boilers, heat distributions systems, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, potable water storage and distribution systems, fire protection pump systems, heat pumps, standby diesel generator systems, and sewage lagoon systems of mechanical systems,components and equipment providing environmental services and conditions for the occupants, managers, staff and inmates of an institution of the Correctional Service Canada.
A pool of qualified candidates will be set to fill the temporary or permanent operational needs in the Correctional Service Canada at La Macaza Institution.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Qualified under the Boiler and Pressure Vessel regulations of the Province of employment for the operation of any boilers in the employer’s workplace that this position may be responsible for operating as a shift engineer. Minimum Power Engineer Certification requirement is fourth (4th) class, with a third (3rd) class or better required at some sites.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in operating high pressure steam or hot water or distribution power plants in a manufacturing, industrial or instritutional environment.
Experience in assessing and troubleshooting a variety of problems with complex mechanical, electrical, control and monitoring systems.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to travel to various locations.
Willingness to work within correctional facilities.
Willingness to work with/or instruct inmates where applicable
Willingness to work overtime, holidays and shift-work for a 24/7 institutional establishment.
