A written take-home exam will be distributed on August 18, 2023, and will be due on August 21, 2023. Interviews will be conducted on August 24 and 25, 2023. Please ensure you are available on these dates.

A pool of candidates will be established. The pool may be used to staff positions with similar qualifications within the department in various locations and/or tenures including term appointments, indeterminate appointments, acting appointments and/or assignments.

EDUCATION:
- Graduation from a recognized school of veterinary medicine.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
- Eligibility for membership in a Canadian veterinary association.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience conducting necropsies, disease investigations/health checks and sample collection on finfish.
- Experience in production animal medicine, including the evaluation or design of biosecurity and health management protocols.
- Experience managing data effectively, and performing analysis.
- Experience interpreting and applying field observations, test results, and gross and histo-pathology to diagnose the presence or absence of disease.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness and ability to conduct work out-of-doors under varying climatic conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote locations via boats, planes and vehicles for long durations.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Willingness and ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.

- Knowledge of aquatic animal pathogens, pathology, and disease diagnostics.
- Knowledge of governing legislation and regulations in aquatic animal health.
- Knowledge of current practices and issues in aquaculture or salmonid enhancement within British Columbia.
