• Monitoring and guiding multiple/diverse sub-activities within project objectives with limited direction;
• Developing new or modified methods, practices, techniques for model development;
• Contributing to the content of databases, and computer models designed for physical science research activities within specific project objectives and the generation of scientific manuscripts;
• Transferring knowledge in the form of reports or articles, as well as providing model use training to stakeholders in industry and government;
• Adapting existing methods as well as develop new models to improve the prediction of the impacts of soil and crop management practices on agricultural production and environmental impacts.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Experience of carbon budgets and carbon cycling in livestock operations.
Experience in simulating soil carbon change on farm and on regional scales.
Experience exchanging scientific advice with clients including producers, industry representatives, or scientific colleagues.
Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience in partaking in multi-disciplinary collaborative research projects with various stakeholders, research collaborators and partners from various disciplines and locations.

Knowledge of Canadian beef production systems and the interaction between livestock and the environment, including waste management and carbon sequestration.
Knowledge of perennial forages, their growth patterns or management.
