The immediate need is to staff one English Essential indeterminate EG-07 Senior Cost Planner & Estimator position; and one English Essential indeterminate EG-06 Cost Planner & Estimator position in one of the following locations: Halifax, NS; Moncton, NB; Saint John, NB; Charlottetown, PE; Corner Brook, NL or St. John’s, NL.
A pool of completely or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various tenures, linguistic requirements and various security profiles at Public Services and Procurement Canada within the Atlantic Region.

EDUCATION:
STREAM 1 AND STREAM 2
Graduation with a diploma in construction management, project management, engineering or architectural technology or related building technology from a recognized technical institute or college OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
STREAM 1
Certification as Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS)
OR
Canadian Construction Association (CCA) Gold Seal Certification in Estimating
STREAM 2
Certification as Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS)
EXPERIENCE:
STREAM 1
Experience in providing conceptual estimates, cost planning and cost control for real property construction projects in Canada.
STREAM 2
Significant* experience in providing conceptual estimates, cost planning and cost control for real property construction projects in Canada.
Experience in supervising staff, including assigning work, managing workload, and managing performance.
*Significant refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a broad range of related activities which were the candidate’s primary work responsibilities. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
STREAM 1 AND STREAM 2:
Working overtime may be required to meet tight timelines.
Willingness and ability to work in and around construction sites, including wearing protective equipment.
Willingness to travel frequently by car, boat or airplane.
STREAM 1 and STREAM 2:
Reliability Status or Secret Status depending on the position to be staffed
Possession of a valid Driver's License OR personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license, within the limits of Treasury Board Policy.
Stream 1: Must maintain Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) certification in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors OR Canadian Construction Association (CCA) Gold Seal Certification in Estimating.
Stream 2: Must maintain Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) certification in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
