Duties

Provides administrative, financial, and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. Provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Work environment

The work is being performed in a police detachment environment. This results in occasional exposure to intoxicated, mentally unstable, hostile and potentially violent individuals to victims of crime or relatives of accident victims who may be distraught. The work is performed in an open office environment. It involves tight deadlines, time pressures, frequent interruptions, conflicting priorities and multiple demands from staff, callers and visitors.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff an indeterminate full time position.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school* or employer- approved alternatives.
*Two years of secondary school is typically completion of grade ten.

Degree equivalency

Experience providing administrative support services

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience providing administrative support within a comparable policing environment

Experience with emergency support services such as providing support for emergency calls, emergency medical response services, or community emergency response teams

Experience interpreting and processing court documents

Experience providing financial support services.

Experience speaking fluently in Cree.

The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, on-line activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc.

Successful applicant is required to work in Deschambault Lake, Saskatchewan. Telework or alternate work locations will not be an option.

Deschambault Lake is classified as an Isolated Post. As such, the successful
candidate must meet all the conditions under the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive prior to appointment. In addition, the successful candidate will be entitled to an Isolated Post Allowance. Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
