This position reports to a senior technician and must be able to work outside in the summer. You will participate in seeding, plot maintenance, harvest, cleaning of grain, packaging of seed for analysis and seed set up for planting. This job requires the ability to operate small farm equipment and to work outside in varying weather conditions. You will work with other technicians in the group to provide support to Research Projects in the harvest of leaf tissues and sample preparation for molecular assays.
This is an ON-SITE field and laboratory research position with emphasis on outdoor work duties supporting the Barley Genomics group at the Brandon Research and Development Centre.
Hours of Work: 8:00 to 4:00 Monday to Friday (compensated overtime is required).
A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, they may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

EDUCATION:
🎓Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in one of the following fields: Biology; Botany; Agriculture; Crop Science; Environmental Science; or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
