Intent of the process

ANTICIPATORY PROCESS - A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process MAY be created and MAY be used to fill similar positions with linguistic profiles (english essential, french essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, bilingual non imperative BBB/BBB, as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment, specified period) which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
- Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

- Experience in supporting application software including the Microsoft Office suite, which includes Microsoft Outlook; Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience supporting desktop or laptop computers running MS Windows 7 or higher
- Experience supporting Smartphone devices

Experience in a IT Service Desk environment.

Organizational Needs:
-Treasury Board Secretariat employees affected by workforce adjustment may be appointed before persons employed by other government organizations;
-In support of achieving a diverse workforce, consideration may be given to candidates self-declare as belonging to one of the following Employment Equity groups: Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and women.

-Operational requirement: overtime infrequent and as needed.
- To be able to work in a schedule that covers from 7:00AM – 6:00 PM.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - A valid secret security clearance is a condition of employment required for an appointment at the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS). Failure to obtain this security clearance means either the candidate will not receive a job offer or the conditional offer will be rendered null and void. A thorough security clearance process will be applied to all candidates considered for an appointment; this process includes inquiries, verifications and assessments regarding matters such as, but not limited to:

• criminal record checks
• reference checks
• previous employment
• open source checks
• credit/financial status

For a secret security clearance, the verification of background information over a period of 10 years is typically required. Many of the verifications require support from third parties whose timelines are outside of TBS’s control. Overall, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
