The intent of the process is to fill a full-time term position of two years.
A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
• Recent (i.e. within the last 2 years) experience working with LiDAR or multispectral point clouds in open-source platforms
• Recent (i.e. within the last 2 years) experience in geospatial data processing and analytics
• Recent (i.e. within the last 2 years) experience in developing machine learning models using geospatial and forest monitoring datasets in forestry research
Asset Qualifications
• Post-graduate degree (M.Sc or Ph.D)

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS
• Knowledge of programming and scripting using R (e.g., tidyverse, LidR) and Python (e.g. Tensorflow)
Abilities:
• Ability to communicate scientific research results effectively in writing
• Ability to communicate scientific research results orally
• Ability to plan, organize and carry out remote sensing data collection campaigns using UAV-LiDAR or multispectral sensors
• Generate iterative workflow, methods, and algorithms for processing LiDAR or multispectral point-clouds in forested environments
