Duties

Participate in research and analytical activities to support policy development, strategic planning and performance measurement in the Results and Economic Intelligence unit of the Strategic Policy Directorate. Duties will include but not be limited to the following:

• Contribute to research on a variety of regional economic issues impacting FedNor initiatives, policies and programs and contribute to written reports and/or briefing notes.

• Support the organization in the areas of performance measurement, research and economic analysis including data collection, validation and storage.

• Provide research, analysis and advice to senior analysts/managers on the results of departmental policies, programs and initiatives in the region.

• Provides support to senior analysts/managers on economic/socio economic issues and initiatives and the collection and dissemination of strategic intelligence.

• Participate in project teams and working groups and represents the organization at meetings and events.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this selection process is to staff positions on indeterminate basis: with linguistic requirements: English Essential, with a Secret Security Clearance.

A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions within Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario with various language requirements such as : BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC and various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period).

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization* in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.

*Acceptable specialization is at least one full year course or two half-year courses in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.

Note:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EX1- Significant* experience to conduct research and analysis and provided options and recommendations to management.

EX2- Significant* experience in writing briefing material and reports for various audiences.

*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breath of the experiences normally acquired approximately two (2) consecutive years or more experience associated with having performed a broad range of various files.

ASSET EDUCATION

Graduation with a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in economics, sociology, statistics, business/commerce, political science, public policy, mathematics or a related field.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

AEX1 - Experience in the development and/or implementation of program performance measurement and evaluation frameworks.

AEX2 – Experience using software to combine data from multiple sources to produce charts, graphs, maps and data visualizations.

AEX3 - Experience in engaging with stakeholder groups that support the economic inclusion of equity-seeking groups (e.g., Indigenous Peoples, Black or Racialized Persons, Persons with Disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+, Women) and/or rural and remote communities.
