Duties

The Protective Services Officer shall, among other things :
- Provides chauffeur service for Court Judges and Senior Officials of the Courts ensuring their safety and protection while in transit
- Makes necessary arrangements for pick up and drop offs
- Completes daily log sheets of trips
- Ensures the delivery of documents
- Monitors vehicles supply inventory and keeps vehicles clean

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator shall, among other things :
- Monitors security systems (CCTV, access control systems, intrusion alarms, radio communication, etc.)
- Answer inquiries by email and telephone and takes appropriate actions in response to events and emergencies
- Communicates with security personnel and guards on various security events
- Writes event reports and disseminate various security related products

Intent of the process

A pool of prequalified or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure and various bilingual linguistic profiles within the Courts Administration Service.

Candidates may be evaluated further, for specific opportunities, on qualifications (including conditions of employment and operational requirements) that are deemed relevant to the positions to be filled, whether or not these qualifications have been listed on the job advertisement.

At minimum, a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and (or) experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in dealing with internal and external clients or stakeholders and providing them with advice, guidance or information.

Experience preparing reports such as but not limited to incident reports for clients or managers.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE: THE ASSET QUALIFICATIONS BELOW MAY BE APPLIED AS ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS DEPENDING ON THE POSITION TO BE STAFFED.

- Experience in the provision of security services.

- Experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC).

- Experience driving company owned vehicles for business purposes.

- Experience working with various softwares, systems and applications including Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, MS Teams and Global Positioning System (GPS).

- Experience working in a judicial or quasi-judicial* environment.

Definition:
*Judicial, quasi-judicial environment is defined as a Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Willing and able to work outside of core hours (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) including, shift work, evenings, weekends and designated holidays

- Willing and able to do overtime often on short notice.

- Willing and able to work on-call.

For the Protective Services Officer positions only:
- Willing and able to lift items that can weight up to 25 kilograms (55 pounds).

- Willing and able to drive and at times outside of the National Capital Region for long distances.

- Possess and maintain a valid G class driver's license or equivalent.

Any information that you provide throughout this selection process, including email correspondence, may also form part of the assessment.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of their education credentials in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.
