Education:
A secondary school diploma
Successful completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology involving two years or more of post-secondary study OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Experience:
Using, installing, calibrating, maintaining, configuring electronic systems used on board vessels or at remote sites
English essential
Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
Knowledge of computers, operating systems, architecture, hardware, networks, and MS Office applications
Knowledge of modern electronic theory and components used in current analogue and digital electronics
Abilities:

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Successful completion of a college Diploma in Computer Systems Technology and/or, IT certifications such as MCSE and/or College Diploma in other related technology
Experience:
Experience with microcontrollers/Single-Board-Computer and programing languages (Assembly/C/Python)
Experience in systems integration and interfacing individual sensors in complex systems
Experience in the use and maintenance of modern sonars, positioning, orientation systems and oceanographic sensors
Experience working aboard ships at sea for extended periods of up to 3 months
Knowledge:
Knowledge of physical oceanography, hydrography or geomatics
Knowledge of the marine environment and the special needs for scientific equipment that operate within this environment
Knowledge of power sources such as batteries, solar panels and generators

Forklift operation certificate
CPR and First Aid certificate
Reliability Status security clearance
Other Conditions of Employment:
Willing and able to perform field work for periods of up to a few weeks several times per year
Willing and able to work overtime
Willing and able to do physical work including: lifting and carrying; climbing masts and towers; getting into and out of launches and helicopters; building structures for equipment
Willing and able to fly in fixed wing aircraft and helicopters
Willing and able to travel by car, truck, ship and launch
Willing and able to work in remote areas and at sea
Health Canada medical clearance
In possession of a valid driver’s license
