For the purpose of staffing within the federal public service, the term Aboriginal is used, as per the Employment Equity Act, to define a North American Indigenous person as members of First Nations, Inuit or Métis. OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada.
EXPERIENCE
Recent* and Significant** experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services in one or more of the following areas:
1. Community Health (Public Health and Home and Community Care)
2. Primary Care
3. Urgent or Emergency Care
4. Acute or Intensive Care
Recent* is defined as within the last three years.
Significant** is defined as at least one year of experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task.
Experience reviewing policies, procedures or documents to provide recommendations.

Graduation with a degree in nursing from a recognized post-secondary institution*
*A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
Recent* and significant** experience providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services in one or more of the following areas:
1. Chronic Disease Management (including Mental Health or Addictions)
2. Pediatrics
Recent* is defined as within the last three years
Significant** is defined as at least one year of experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

•Reliability Status Security Clearance;
•Current valid registration as a Registered Nurse and a member in good standing in at least one of the following provinces: Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, and willingness to seek registration in any of the remaining provinces mentioned;
•MEDICAL CLEARANCE
i) PRE-PLACEMENT: Category 1 health evaluation + COVID-19 self-screening questionnaire ii) PERIODIC: Category 3 health evaluation according to the schedule outlined in the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard for “First Nations and Inuit Health Branch Nurses Assigned to Isolated Posts in Northern First Nations Communities”
ii) Agree to undertake a Category 3 pre-placement periodic health evaluation in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=12561§ion=HTML)
iii) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: a valid Category 1 medical clearance for their dependent(s) in accordance with section 4.2 of the Isolated Post and Government Housing Directive and Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (http://www.njc-cnm.gc.ca/directive/index.php?hl=1&lang=eng&merge=3&did=4&vid=12&pv=1 )
iv) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: consent to their dependent(s) to undertake a Category 1 periodic health evaluation in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/(S(5xos1g45ufdaaz45lxatyqms))/doc-eng.aspx?id=32632§ion=html)
•Willingness and ability to work from home (in Canada) and a satellite ISC office, as required;
•Willingness and ability to travel;
•Willingness and ability to travel to remote communities across Canada for a minimum of at least 50% of the work;
•Willingness and ability to remain on travel status for extended periods of time;
•Possession of a valid driver's licence or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license;
•Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position including Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, Healthcare Provider Level C, renewed annually; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); International Trauma Life Support (ITLS); Controlled Substances/Immunization Certification);
•Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice;
•Willingness and ability to provide relief to remote and isolated communities in urgent situations;
•Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, in off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas;
•Willingness and ability to work in a rigorous, diverse and often demanding work environment;
•Willingness to be assigned to a variety of communities as operationally required;
•Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required;
•Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position.
