This process will be used to staff one indeterminate full-time position and a one year temporary full-time position. A pool of qualified candidates may be created and used to staff full-time indeterminate and term positions.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Your résumé.
A degree, certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, safety management, loss control management, safety engineering or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in occupational health and safety (OHS) in the health and safety field
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the delivery of occupational health and safety services in a combined unionized and non-unionized environment
Certification as an occupational safety specialist or industrial hygienist such as:
• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) – certified by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals;
• Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) or Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologies (ROHT) – certified by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists;
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or jointly with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals;
• Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) – certified by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering
Experience with the Canada Labour Code or Provincial Government OHS Legislation
Experience delivering training
Experience investigating harassment and violence in the workplace
Experience working in building construction, maintenance or trades environment.

The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, on-line activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
