The intent of this process is to staff a position on a indeterminate basis in Valleyview , Alberta, and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of statusto the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidateswho are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION:
- Successful completion of two years secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, or experience.*

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in providing general administrative support services (such as data entry, ordering office supplies, processing mail, preparing correspondence, or transcription).
- Experience maintaining an electronic or hard copy filing system in an office environment.
- Experience in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, or databases
- Experience providing service to internal or external clients, or the general public, via telephone or in person.
EXPERIENCE:
-Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
- Willingness and ability to occasionally travel for work or training purposes using various modes of transportation including small aircraft.
- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's licence.

All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.
Interested persons must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position. However, a person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
