Duties

Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to establish, promote and maintain a supportive treatment environment.

Within a mental health treatment model, provide and supervise group and individual skill development sessions and provide follow-ups.

Interact in a sustained and consistent manner with women offenders in the Intensive Intervention Strategy or ambulatory services that promote continuity of care, with each intervention seen as an opportunity to assess or change behaviour.

Working with Women Offenders in a Federal Institution for Women.

Completion of a two year post-secondary diploma with specialization in one of the following areas: social work, behavioural science technology, social services work, mental health, addictions, psycho education; or in a field related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience intervening with women* in crisis.
* The term “women” includes those who identify as women, as well as people who are non-binary.

Experience working with people who experience mental health issues and/or problematic behaviours.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience working with women* with mental health needs.

Experience working with Indigenous women* or women* from other ethonocultural groups.

Experience in offering treatment to clients using the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Experience working with individuals who are at risk for self-injurious or suicidal behavior.

Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications noted in the Statement of Merit Criteria to be appointed to a position. A candidate may be appointed to a position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or operational requirements. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
