Intent of the process

This process may be used to staff various CR-04 positions, or equivalent, with employment tenures, language and security requirements, conditions of employment and work locations throughout Halifax Regional Municipality, that will vary depending on the position being staffed.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EXPERIENCE:

AE1. Experience in providing administrative support services* in an office environment.
AE2. Experience in data entry, processing mail and/or preparing correspondence.

AE4. Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.
AE5. Experience providing financial support services (i.e. verifying and/or correcting financial claims, controlling or monitoring petty cash, preparing financial status reports, etc.
AE6. Experience working within a policing environment.

Administrative support services* - defined as, for example, but not limited to: managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings/teleconferences, preparing and collating meeting file folders and background materials, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, processing and preparing correspondence, receiving calls and welcoming visitors and other related duties.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete. To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you” (https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/good-character) as well as the applicable considerations under “Evaluating your past actions”. The security requirements are the same for all employees of the RCMP.
