Duties

The successful candidate will support the scientific team in activities related to vaccination of sows, blood sampling (of sows and piglets) and milking of colostrum and milk from sows. The main objective of this project is to study the immune response of sows supplemented with different dietary levels of vitamins and vaccinated against a specific pathogen, as well as the transfer of immunoglobulins to piglets. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory analysis of immunoglobulin and vitamin measurements in different samples, performing statistical analysis, interpreting results and writing scientific manuscripts.

Education:
Currently enrolled in a Master’s program at an accredited post-secondary institution, with a specialization in:
• Animal Sciences; or
• Veterinary Sciences.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Prior experience* with blood sampling and laboratory analysis (molecular biology and/or trace elements).
• Experience* in participating in scientific projects.

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
