As directed by the supervisor, research technician and current guidelines, the incumbent will provide general and technical support:
• Assist with sowing, maintenance and harvesting of plots.
• Contribute to data collection and analysis.
• Contribute to the collection of plant or soil samples.
• Provide laboratory or field support for research programs.
• Conduct laboratory or field research activities.
• Assist in the maintenance of research equipment.
The Normandin Experimental Farm focuses its research in two areas: agro-environment and field crops such as fodder plants, cereals and oilseed and protein crops.
Specifically, farm staff work on forage and cereal crop management for Eastern Canada. They also work in the management and conservation of soil-water-air resources. In addition, the Normandin Experimental Farm sees to the development of fodder and cereal production methods adapted to the context of northern agriculture.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in college (CEGEP) or Bachelor’s program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in:
•Agronomy;
•Agricultural science;
•Plant science;
•Biology;
•Environmental science;
•Ecotechnology;
•Natural resources;
•Soil science;
•Related science program or other related field.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
Experience:
Experience* in conducting experiments in the laboratory and/or on site.
Experience* in collecting or analyzing samples.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
