Delivers subject matter expertise in the area of international human rights and responsible business conduct (RBC); proposes, designs, conducts and reports on qualitative and quantitative research & studies.
The Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) is an ombud institution with a business and human rights focus, the first of its kind in Canada and the world. Individuals, communities and groups that have been impacted by the overseas operations of Canadian garment, mining and oil/gas companies can submit complaints to the CORE about possible human rights abuses, and the CORE will work with the complainant and the company to resolve issues and will make recommendations to remedy the harms caused.
Please note that this position requires a physical presence in the office; part time attendance is required at this time. The operational needs of the CORE do not allow for full-time telework.

The current need is to staff one (1) Business and Human Rights Analyst position within CORE with the language requirement bilingual imperative BBB/BBB on a term basis. A pool of partially qualified OR fully qualified candidates resulting from this process may be established and may be used to fill similar positions within Global Affairs Canada with various tenures and various linguistic profiles.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.
NOTE:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
E1.Significant* experience preparing comprehensive documents such as studies, reports or position papers based on research and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data from multiple and conflicting sources.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of duties for a combined minimum of 2 years.
E2. Experience in project coordination including developing project design, scope, resources, timelines or reporting.
AE1. Master degree in human rights, politics, international development, international human rights law, public policy or a field related to the position.
AE2. Experience working in an ombud office, national or regional human rights institution or oversight body, or human rights non-governmental organization.
AE3. Experience working with under-served communities (such as language minorities, Indigenous peoples, LGBT2Q+, migrant workers, ethnic minorities or racialized persons)
AE4. Experience working internationally or with an international organization or body.
AE5. Experience working in the area of Indigenous Peoples’ rights.
AE6. Experience supervising the work of others.
AE7. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
AE8. Experience communicating with clients, colleagues or stakeholders in Spanish or Portuguese

Depending on the number of applicants, volume management strategies such as random selection, top-down approach and/or establishing cut-off scores to determine who will continue in the staffing process, may be used for the purpose of managing applications.
