Assisting the AAFC Potato Breeding team in planting and maintain research potato plots.
- Collecting and submitting aphid population samples for analysis.
- Collecting leaf samples for analysis.
- Rogueing research plots and identifying plant diseases, pests, and foreign material.
- Performing routine maintenance on outdoor properties.
This job is based in Benton, New Brunswick, which is located roughly 90km north of Fredericton, NB and 30km south of Woodstock, NB. The AAFC Benton Ridge Potato Breeding Substation is an isolated potato breeding farm that focuses on the production of research potatoes and various applicable cover crops.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD program in a recognize post-secondary academic institution with one of the following specialization:
- Agriculture
- Biology
- Forestry
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date) and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
Experience:
Experience working around heavy equipment.
Experience working in a farm environment.
Experience collecting plant tissue and leaf samples.
Experience keeping accurate records and data.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
Ability and willingness to lift 22kgs or 50lbs.
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in any weather.
Ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
