Assessment accommodation

ISC employees can work a mix between in-office and from a telework location. Physical onsite presence in Toronto or Thunder Bay will be required for a minimum of 2 days per week in accordance with Treasury Board direction.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various locations, linguistic profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Secondment, Determinate, and Indeterminate appointments) and/or security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

By default, and in the interest of the greater public service, pools created as a result of staffing processes at ISC may be shared with other government departments.

EDUCATION:
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives are:
o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who meet either of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the two years of secondary school requirement:
a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the CR classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the two years of secondary school requirement.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in providing general administrative services (which may include managing files, data entry, performing reception, mail duties, accounts receivable/payable and purchasing).

Experience in implementing procedures and processes.

Experience in providing information to clients or management.

Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software and performing data entry functions in an office environment.

Experience in providing advice and guidance on administrative or program support services in a work environment such as, but not limited to preparation of administrative or program reports, reviewing and assessing client requests, providing options and recommendations on the appropriate procedures, etc

ASSET EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Experience working in a security field, such as physical or personnel security.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of the Financial Administration Act (FAA).
• Knowledge of Treasury Board Policies related to procurement and asset management.

Candidates must meet all the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.

LEAVE/ABSENCES DURING THIS SELECTION PROCESS: It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the Departmental contact of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations. One (1) alternate date will be possible only if requested for the following reasons: 1) Medical reasons with doctor’s certificate 2) Death in your immediate family 3) Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans or training plans (made before the advertisement posting date) 4) Religious reasons or 5) Participation in an assessment for another selection process.
