In addition to the rate of pay, positions located in Wabush NL are eligible to an Environmental Allowance and a Living Cost Differential as per the as per the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive (effective date 01.08.22):
ENVIRONMENTAL ALLOWANCE:
- Employee with dependants: $3.07 hourly ($6,403 per year)
- Employee without dependants: $1.84 hourly ($3,842 per year)
LIVING COST DIFFERENTIAL:
- Employee with dependants: $3.88 hourly ($8,100 per year)
- Employee without dependants: $2.33 hourly ($4,860 per year)
For example, the total salary including allowances of a single employee (without dependents) can reach between $65,000 to $70,000 per year! Even more if you add overtime!

β During winter months*, removes snow, water, ice and other surface contaminants from taxiways, runways, aprons, public access roads, parking areas, meteorological and telecommunications sites, boundary lights and other airfield, airport surfaces and drainage systems.
β During summer months, maintains and improves conditions of runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, and other airport access areas, grass and soil covered fields and storm drainage systems.
β Performs preventive maintenance duties and minor repairs on equipment and structures. Assists other trades with major repairs that do not require specialized training or journeyman proficiency.
*Limited vacation from October to April.

β Experience in bird and wildlife control methods, techniques and procedures used at airports
