Duties

This activity is part a 4-year Geological Survey of Canada project initiated in 2022 to compile and understand the history of ancient glaciations in mainland Nunavut and Northwest Territories. The research will rely on fieldwork (bedrock and sediment sampling) and Spatial Analyses (ArcGIS) to help answer key questions related to the age, the geometry and the development of the glacial lakes that inundated low elevations of west-Central Keewatin.

Intent of the process

The intention is to staff one student position for the completion of a Master of Science degree supervised by Dr. Martin Roy at Université du Québec à Montréal.

• Currently enrolled or willing to enroll at the Université du Québec à Montréal in a Master of Science program with specialization relevant to the duties of the position.
• Graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geosciences, or other relevant specialization from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.
• Experience working with GIS (ArcGIS)
• Experience working in the field
