Duties

This M.Sc. project, “Mineralization styles of orogenic gold systems in Newfoundland”, aims to understand how and why gold systems formed through time in the northeast-central Newfoundland Appalachians. The research will focus on mineralogical and chemical examination of new drill core from gold industry properties. The results will help active junior exploration companies understand the fundamental controls on gold mineralization.

Intent of the process

The intention is to staff one student position for the completion of a Master of Science degree supervised by Dr. Stefanie Brueckner at University of Manitoba.

• Currently enrolled, or willing to enroll, at the University of Manitoba in a Master of Science program with specialization relevant to the duties of the position.
• Graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geosciences, or other relevant specialization from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.
• Experience identifying rocks and minerals
• Experience describing rocks and minerals
• Experience working individually and in teams

Conditions of employment
