Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Secondment, Determinate, and Indeterminate appointments) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed

EDUCATION:

The minimum standard for positions classified as Elementary and Secondary Teaching
(ED-EST) is either Education or Occupational Certification.

When education is required, the minimum standard is:
ED1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

OCT1 - Possession of an acceptable teaching certificate from a province or territory of Canada

EXPERIENCE:

EX1 - Five years of successful classroom teaching experience in elementary or secondary
education

EX2 - Experience working effectively with First Nations or Inuit or Métis communities
