If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
The Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Correctional Officer II in a Healing Lodge. This is similar to the role of Correctional Officer I in a men’s institution, however, the position is classified at a higher level and includes additional responsibilities with respect to case management.
We also strongly encourage you to apply for the position of Primary Worker/Kimisinaw who have direct and daily contact with Women Offenders and for the position of Correctional Officer I.
For screening and assessment purposes, all communications related to this selection process will be by email. Therefore, candidates must include a valid email address in their application. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that this address is functional and that it accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email) and frequently check their inbox and JUNK/SPAM folders. It is also the candidate's responsibility to ensure accurate information is provided and updated as required.
Candidates who have passed all stages of evaluation and who are selected must complete the Correctional Training Program (CTP), which includes two online training phases, and a 14 week in residence training phase at the CSC Training Academy in Kingston, ON, Summerside, PEI or another training site.
ALLOWANCE FOR RECRUITS
Correctional Service of Canada recruits receive an allowance* of $400/week, up to a maximum of $5,600 for 14 weeks, during Stage 3 of the Correctional Training Program. This allowance, paid bi-weekly, is in addition to the meal and hospitality fees already covered for recruits at this same stage of CTP.
Indigenous candidates may be eligible for an allowance for participation in CTP Stage 3 through a Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ISET) stakeholder. For more information on how to access training support dollars, please consult the following website to access a service delivery organization at https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/indigenous-skills-employment-training/service-delivery-organizations.html.
If you wish to reapply to a Correctional Officer II - Healing Lodges selection process, the retest period is 180 days from the date of elimination at the written exercise and interview/reference stage. There is also a retest period of two (2) years for the psychological assessment from the date of elimination. The psychological assessment for Correctional Officer II - Healing Lodges is also used for Primary Worker/Kimisinaw (women’s institutions) and Correctional Officer I; as such the retest period would also apply to those selection processes.
You will not be assessed more than once in the same selection process.
With more than 19,000 employees, CSC plays a key role in contributing to public safety, working around the clock at our 43 correctional institutions, 91 parole offices and 14 community correctional centres across Canada. Join us to help change lives and protect Canadians!
Correctional Officers II - Healing Lodges play a vital role as the first line of contact for offenders. In addition to performing static and dynamic security, Correctional Officers II - Healing Lodges incorporate a healing component into the offenders case management in collaboration with the Elder/Spiritual Advisors, and other members of the case management team. They have an understanding of the transitory aspects of Indigenous life, assist offenders to follow their healing path/journey, listen and respond to offenders' concerns, document information and events, participate in case conferences for decision-making and prepare a variety of reports and recommendations.
