ISED is transitioning to a hybrid work environment to leverage the best of both in-person and virtual work to deliver results. To foster a dynamic environment for purposeful in-person connections, most employees will be working part time at their designated ISED worksite on a weekly basis, and the remainder of the time from their telework location.

We are located at the CD Howe Building, situated at 235 Queen Street, an office complex in downtown Ottawa, close to Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal and the Rideau Shopping Centre. This location offers close access to restaurants, fitness facilities, walking/running paths and parks. We are conveniently located close to major bus routes, so it is easy to commute from all points across the National Capital Region.
The intent of this selection process is to staff seven position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various language requirements and various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, secondment or assignment) within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.

EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics.
- Experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group.
OR
- Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of twenty-four (24) months experience total combined in at least TWO (2) of the following fields:
- Planning and Resource Management
- Grants and Contributions financial management
- Financial Policy
- Internal controls
- Financial management advisory services
- Accounting operations
- Costing for Cabinet documents (Memoranda to Cabinet/Treasury Board submissions)
- Activity-based costing
- Cost recovery through fees
- Financial systems
- Internal or external audit
- Internal or external reporting
- Project Management
- Experience in performing financial analysis and the extraction and preparation of financial reports.
Various language requirements
- Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB
- English or French essential

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
- Possession of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Experience working with SAP software Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS).
- Experience in providing consultative and advisory services on financial matters.
- Experience in interpreting and applying public sector policies and procedures.
- Basic or advanced knowledge on PowerBI.
- Experience in testing, user requirements gathering OR performing configurations as part of a financial system (e.g. SAP) functional support team.
- Experience working in a federal government setting or in a regional office of federal government department
- Experience in the cost/benefit and risk analysis techniques and practices to develop cost effective recommendations for managers on expenditure proposals and to resolve complex financial issues.
- Experience managing or supervising staff.
