Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:
In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $19,833 to $27,387 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $1,000 once a year for you and each eligible dependant.
As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
This position works to help deliver the Northern Contaminated Sites Program/Northern Abandoned Mines Reclamation Program, within the Northern Affairs Sector of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) by working closely with territorial governments, Indigenous partners and other stakeholders to remediate contaminated sites and abandoned mines in the Northwest Territories.
We work collaboratively on environmental studies, investigations, and remediation projects in compliance with federal, territorial and municipal environmental regulations and standards.
Duties of the job include review of environmental or scientific technical reports and ability to synthesize and report information to communicate to the public and regulatory agencies, working at remote sites while following all environmental, health and safety plans, and developing or reviewing specifications, terms of reference or scopes of work and other project management tasks.

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a specialization in engineering, environmental science, geology, biology, chemistry or other science relevant to the position.
• Recent* working experience of approximately one (1) year in two (2) of the three following subjects:
- Phased Environmental Site Assessment relative to contaminated sites.
- Analysis and reporting of environmental data.
- Design or implementation of environmental management programs.
• Solid** experience working with internal and external stakeholders, including Indigenous organizations.
• Recent* experience in maintaining environmental databases and utilizing project management tools.
*Acquired within the last five (5) years.
**A minimum of two (2) years experience.

• Post-graduate education relevant to contaminated site remediation.

Operational Requirements (may be requested, upon taking up the position):
• Willingness and ability to travel in small fixed wing and helicopter aircraft, as well as driving on winter roads and ice roads.
• Willing to work overtime.
• Willing to work at remote contaminated sites.
• Holder of a valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of, and adherence to, the Northern Contaminated Sites Program’s Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHS-MS), as well as contractor Health and Safety Plans and camp rules for remote sites.
