Duties

1. Assisting with data preparation and analysis of earth observation data for analysing climate impacts on agricultural crops.
2. Assembling earth observation data sets from multiple sources over study sites in Canada.
3. Assisting with analysis impacts of drought on agricultural crops.

Work environment

The hiring division; Agroclimate, Geomatics and Earth Observation (ACGEO), is a virtual centre where staff are located across Canada. Team members participate in project activities virtually on a collaborative basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Bachelor’s program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in: natural or physical sciences (physics, geology, chemistry, geography, geomatics, earth sciences, environmental sciences, agriculture, natural resources science, environmental biology) or some other science relevant to the position.

Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date) and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience* working with geospatial data sets for agriculture or environmental applications.
Experience* with processing remotely sensed imagery for agriculture or environmental applications.
Experience* working with field collected data in agriculture or environmental science applications.

*In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience and volunteer activities.
