EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:
Significant* experience implementing agricultural field experiments as they relate to plant or soil science.
Significant* experience operating small plot research equipment, including tractors, plot seeders, plot combines and tillage implements.
Significant* experience collecting, handling and processing of plant and soil sample materials from field, growth chamber or greenhouse.
Experience with scientific data collection, organization and analysis.
Experience supervising staff or students.
Experience allocating resources (human, physical, consumable) to meet program requirements.
* Significant is defined as > 36 months / 3 full field seasons.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION:
Graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in agriculture, agronomy, biology, plant sciences, ecology or other field relevant to the position.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE:
Experience conducting soil-emitted greenhouse gas flux measurement campaigns under field conditions.
Experience co-managing multi-year projects with associated land, labor, and capital resources, including planning and budgeting.
Experience planning and conducting field experiments under rain-fed and irrigated conditions.
Experience conducting agronomic evaluation of plant breeding trials in crops grown in western Canada.
Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) applications and systems for equipment, trial management or data collection.

Knowledge of current farming technologies, agricultural machinery, and pest management practices relevant to crop production in Western Canada.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a valid pesticide applicator certificate of qualification.
Crop Science Consultation certification.
Professional Agrologist designation.
Possession of a Class 1 Saskatchewan license with G Endorsement, (or provincial/territorial equivalent).
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of sustainable cropping systems, crop selection, and implications for environmental protection and profitability.
Knowledge of protocols for confined research field trials and Good Laboratory Practices for field trial experiments.
Knowledge of major field crops grown on the Canadian prairies.

Ability and willingness to acquire a valid pesticide applicator certificate of qualification within six months of start date*.
Ability and willingness to acquire a G Endorsement to a Class 5 Saskatchewan drivers licence*.
