Assessment accommodation

Norway House Hospital serves the immediate area of Norway House, a community, 288 air miles north of Winnipeg, with a population of approximately 6,000 residents, including residents of the Norway House Cree Nation (NHCN) and the affiliated Norway House Northern community. The location is picturesque, on a peninsula at the headwaters of the Nelson River, on the edge of the Canadian Shield. Access by air or road connections through the provincial highway system.

Candidates are advised that there is limited housing in this location.

By joining our team, you will have opportunity to provide direct support to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate with concrete examples, IN THE PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONS, how they meet the education and experience factors listed in the essential qualifications. Only screening questionnaire will be used during pre-screening process. We may use resumes as a secondary source to validate the answers to the pre-screening questions. Candidates who fail to provide sufficient information will be eliminated from further consideration.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff two (2) full-time indeterminate vacancies.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative), various security requirements, various conditions of employment as well as various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) within Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.

Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are:
1. A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
2. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent* experience providing support services in three of the following areas: administrative support, communications, human resources, medical records, purchasing, reception or travel.
- Experience using word processing software to prepare letters or reports.
- Experience inputting data into a computerized system.

* Recent is defined as within the last three (3) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualifications:
- Experience dealing with First Nations communities, organizations or people.
- Experience working in a hospital or personal care home setting.
- Experience providing reception services or using a switchboard.
- Experience scheduling and organizing meetings, teleconferences or video-conferences.
- Experience setting up or maintaining a filing system.
- Experience using an electronic records management.
